A 55 minute speedboat transfer brings you to the island of Meerufenfushi and its sole occupant, Meeru Island Resort; a lovely, well-established, South African favourite.

4 Star VELIGANDU ISLAND RESORT & SPA
It’s relatively small and intimate – 600 metres long and only 150 metres wide - with 91 villas and it’s a great value 4-star deluxe resort in the North Ari Atoll.
Accommodation ranges from Beach Villas with a Jacuzzi to Water Villas with a whirlpool bathtub and Jacuzzi Water Villas. It has one of the best sandbanks in the Maldives, an amazing house reef, excellent snorkelling off the beach, an infinity pool overlooking the beach, and the Duniye over water spa. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all guest rooms and most public areas. Good for couples and honeymooners as from May 2016 Veligandu will be an adults only resort with no children under 18 allowed. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed – shorts, T-shirts and sarongs are the most clothes you will need – not even shoes are required in this barefoot paradise.
The Ocean Sports Centre has a terrific range of water sports, both motorised and non-motorised, including waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skis, kayaks and more. A sunset punch cruise on the resort dhoni – you may just be lucky enough to see dolphins in the setting sun. This experience comes highly recommended as do sundowners at the Athiri Bar.

A snack menu is available at the bars and pool and special dinners can be arranged on the beach anywhere, anytime (supplementary charge applies).
The Thundi Bar and al fresco deck overlooks the lagoon and is a favourite meeting place, specially for satellite TV coverage of international sporting events! The new Athiri bar is a small and intimate option on the northern beach.
